Dr. Burcu B. KeskinDr. Burcu B. Keskin is an professor of Operations Management and Reese Phifer Fellow in Operations and Manufacturing Management at the University of Alabama (UA). She received her Ph.D. in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University in 2007. She has conducted research in different areas of supply chain management including inventory theory, facility location, production distribution system design, and routing with a particular emphasis on applied optimization. Her papers have appeared in Naval Research Logistics, IIE Transactions, Computers and Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Operational Society, and Interfaces among others. Her paper on routing state troopers was highlighted in the 2012 spring issue of University’s research magazine due to its potential impact. Another paper co-authored by her on scheduling NCAA basketball tournament was highlighted by ESPN, FoxNews, and Culverhouse Executive Magazine. Burcu serves in the editorial boards of OMEGA: The International Journal of Management Science, Computers and Operations Research, INTERFACES, and International Journal of Operations Research and Information Systems. She is also an ad-hoc reviewer over twenty journals.
Burcu is currently the OM Doctoral Program Coordinator. She is also the faculty advisor for the Women MBA International chapter at UA (http://www.mbawomen.org/). Burcu is an active member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS). She started her involvement with the student chapters. She is one of the founding officers and the first president of the Texas A&M Student Chapter. Due to her involvement with student chapters, Burcu received the INFORMS Judith Liebman Moving Spirit Award in 2007. Burcu served as the faculty advisor of the INFORMS Student Chapter from 2007 to 2017. The chapter received two Cum Laude awards during this years. From 2008 to 2011, Burcu served on the Subdivision Council representing Student Chapters. During the same period, she was an elected officer (secretary and president) of the INFORMS Junior Faculty Interest Group. Additionally, Burcu is one of the founding officers and the Treasurer of the INFORMS Deep South Chapter. Since 2008, Burcu has been a member of INFORMS Chapters/Fora and INFORMS Education Committees. She has served on the organizing committee of the 2012 INFORMS Annual Conference and 2018 INFORMS Annual Conference. Since Fall 2015, Burcu serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the INFORMS Optimization Society. Burcu also served as the chair of the INFORMS Doctoral Student Colloquium in 2016 and as the chair of the INFORMS Combined Colloquia. Burcu is also a member of POM and DSI.
